Career Education Syllabus (CES) is PTEM Careers' structured programme for helping students prepare for life beyond A-Levels.
It gives you opportunities to explore your future options, understand your strengths and interests, develop useful skills and experiences, and make informed decisions about what you want to do after sixth form.
CES is not about telling you which career or university to choose. Instead, it gives you the information, experiences and tools to help you make your own informed choices.
Choosing what to do after A-Levels can feel overwhelming. There are thousands of university courses, different career pathways, scholarships, application systems and requirements to consider.
CES helps you work through this process step by step.
Through CES, you will:
explore different courses, careers and pathways;
identify your interests, strengths and areas for development;
research and compare your options;
develop skills and experiences beyond the classroom;
keep track of your achievements and experiences; and
turn your research into a realistic plan for your future.
The aim is simple: to help you move from “I don't know” to “I have options, I have a plan, and I know what to do next.”
CES guides you through four steps:
Explore
Explore the courses, careers, universities, scholarships and pathways available to you.
Identify
Understand your interests, strengths, skills and areas for development.
Plan
Research and compare your options, then decide what you need to do to reach your goals.
Do
Put your plan into action by developing skills, gaining experiences and taking the necessary steps towards your next stage.
Your CES logbook is your personal record of your career exploration and development throughout sixth form.
Use it to keep track of:
Your profile
Your basic information, interests, strengths and aspirations.
Your exploration
Courses, universities, careers and opportunities you have researched.
Your experiences
Supercurricular activities, attachments, programmes, competitions and other experiences.
Your skills
Skills you have developed and evidence of how you have developed them.
Your achievements
Things you have accomplished and experiences you may later want to use in applications.
Your plans
Your potential university choices, career ideas and next steps.

Think of your CES logbook as your personal career record.
Your CES activities and resources are available through Google Classroom.
Keep your CES logbook updated as you progress through sixth form. Don't worry about having your entire future figured out at once — focus on the next useful step.
