Additional Academic Requirements
UK universities also require you to sit for the UCAT as part of your application. Please note that you can only take each test ONCE per application cycle. Studnets will normally need to prepare for the UCAT as early as three months in advance. In Brunei, you normally sit for the UCAT in early September.

Non-Academic Requirements
Medicine and Dentistry are people-facing careers, and so, they do demand people skills such as empathy and teamwork. Volunteering greatly assists in developing these skills.
Universities also value candidates who apply for an attachment for experience. RIPAS is very limited in slots for attachments, and the dates are normally announced at the beginning of the academic year. The Careers Section will normally announce when the slots are released at the beginning of the year. JPMC is available for attachment throughout, but they will require additional documentation. Do drop by the Careers Section for further advice on how to apply.
Volunteering at vet clinics or animal shelters are also highly valued in those seeking pursue medicine and dentistry.
Most Bruneian students aiming for medicine overseas successfully applied to Ireland and received scholarship funding from MOE to study there. IUMC is a consortium of four Irish universities, namely, University College Cork, University of Galway, Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin. On the other hand, RCSI Dublin is a specialised university in Ireland offering health science programs only.

Some Bruneian students aiming for medicine overseas successfully applied to the twinning program in Malaysia and Ireland and received scholarship funding from MOE to study first in Malaysia, then Ireland. RUMC is an overseas campus of two Irish universities, namely, University College Dublin and RCSI Dublin.

Most students who aspire to do Medicine or Dentistry end up in UBD. Medicine and Dentistry is a twinning programme, which means you spend the first three years in Brunei, and the final three years overseas (changes every year but previous destinations include HK, Australia or the UK)
This is a scholarship for Bruneian yellow IC students and everything will be paid for. You will also be given an allowance.
However, red IC and green IC students will have to pay school fees and the costs are approximately
BND18,000 per year for the first three years (Medicine), or BND15,000 for the first three years (Dentistry)
BND100,000 per year if you twin in Australia or the UK, or BND20,000 a year for HK

Where you complete your degree as part of your twinning programme largely depends on your GPA (your yearly results during your degree). Usually, HK requires the highest GPAs but has the least cost.
