Stamping is required for all leaving students who are pursuing higher education be it in the country or scholarship abroad. We recommend at least 5-6 copies of each certificate to be stamped as certified true copies. Although we here at careers advocate for minimum use of paper, other institutions still require printed certified true copies of your certificates (STAMP ON THE FRONT PHOTOCOPY OF THE CERTIFICATE, NOT THE BACK).
Please check with them whether they need it and how many copies they need.
When applying for an institution or a scholarship, you are often required to give certified true copies of:
Your IC
Your birth certificate
Your O-Level certificates and statement of results (all sittings)
Your A-Level certificates and statement of results (all sittings)
Certificates of relevant activities for the past 5 years
What certificates do I bring?
Make photocopies of your academic results (PSR, SPM, SSRU, O-level and A-level). If you have the certificate.
Make photocopies of relevant official documents (IC, birth certificate)
Make photocopies of relevant co-curricular certificates (secondary school and sixth form) if necessary
Place all the photocopies in a large envelope / folder with your full name and tutor group clearly written on the envelope / folder
DO NOT give your original certificates.
TOP TIP:
Photocopy 1 or 2 for each certificate/document
After stamping, scan and upload a digital copy on your Google Drive (Cloud storage)
Now you will forever have a certified true copy of your documents.
You are fully responsible for checking what documents you need.
Always double check with the "Institutions Checklist" if in doubt on what to photocopy. This is available on the HECAS website.
