Some terms to familiarise yourself with:
Merit scholarships are awarded based on a student's academic achievements, test scores, extracurricular activities, and leadership potential. These scholarships are typically the most competitive, but they can also offer the largest financial rewards.
Need-based scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate financial need. These scholarships are often funded by private organizations or the government, and they can be a great way to help cover the cost of college if you have limited financial resources.
Athletic scholarships are awarded to students who participate in college sports. These scholarships can cover the full cost of tuition, room and board, and books. However, they are typically only available to students who compete at a high level in their respective sports.
Ethnic scholarships are awarded to students from specific ethnic groups. These scholarships are often funded by organizations that are dedicated to promoting diversity in higher education.
Gender scholarships are awarded to students of a particular gender. These scholarships are often funded by organizations that are dedicated to promoting gender equality in higher education.
Religious scholarships are awarded to students of a particular religion. These scholarships are often funded by religious organizations that are dedicated to helping students pursue their education.
Subject-specific scholarships are awarded to students who plan to study a particular subject in college. These scholarships are often funded by organizations that are dedicated to promoting education in a particular field.
Community service scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated a commitment to community service. These scholarships are often funded by organizations that are dedicated to promoting volunteerism and civic engagement.
