Studying in Singapore

Singapore is Southeast Asia's most developed economy and therefore has a very competitive education environment. Singapore's universities are consistently ranked top in Asia. You will be competing against the best of the best in Asia and the World.If you are up to the challenge, then this is one study destination you may want to consider.

Fun fact: Two students from PTEM are studying in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and they both managed to get the tuition grant from NTU. 

• Application process: Students normally apply directly to the university. 

• Tuition fees: the tuition fees are affordable only if you manage to get a scholarship or a tuition grant. It could cut down costs from approximately SGD40,000 to SGD50,000 per year to SGD15,000 to SGD30,000 a year depending on your degree. 

• Living expenses:  around SGD10,000 per year.

• Entry requirements: University places are very competitive, especially at the best Singaporean universities. Universities prefer 4 A-level subjects. One PTEM student successfully entered Nanyang Technological University with his excellent grades of 3A* 1A and 1b.

• Explore individual universities to see if they offer financial help for students. The same PTEM student managed to secure a tuition grant with Nanyang Technological University.

• You may work part-time for up to 16 hours a week depending on your visa. More details here.

• Depending on your offer, your visa and your ability to get a tuition grant, you may or may not be able to work in Singapore after graduation. However, you can try applying for a "Long Term Visit Pass" which will allow you to look for a job up to one year after graduation. More details here.

MOE Singapore Tuition Grant

If you study at a Singapore government established university or institution, you will be eligible for a tuition grant. You will be able to get a significant reduction on your tuition fees.

However, accepting a tuition grant means that you will be bonded to work in Singapore for three years.
